Supporting working parents

Local ChildcareOptions

Affordable, flexible childcare is often the difference between accepting a job and turning one down. We have compiled trusted local providers across DC who offer subsidized slots, drop-in care, and extended hours for working parents.

Early & late hours

Many partners open at 5:30 AM and close at 8 PM so parents can work shifts that do not fit a traditional daycare schedule.

Subsidized slots

Several centers reserve a percentage of enrollment for income-qualified families. We help you navigate the paperwork to secure a spot.

Drop-in & emergency care

Unexpected schedule change? Backup care partnerships mean you do not have to miss a shift because your regular sitter canceled.

Could you qualify for subsidized care?

Many working families in DC are eligible for childcare subsidies and do not realize it. Income thresholds are higher than you might expect - especially for single parents and shift workers.

“I was turning down second-shift jobs because I could not find evening childcare. Bright Beginnings had a subsidized slot that covered 70% of tuition. I started two weeks later.”

- Keisha, working parent in DC

“The co-op model saved us. We pay by the day, so when my hours fluctuate I am not locked into a full month. Plus my daughter loves it there.”

- David, single dad in Alexandria
